Inclusion

Museums have an inclusion problem, meaning, many don’t feel welcome in museums. It’s tough to get into the museum field to begin with, lack of representation in the field and exhibits, and lack of accessibility.

But many museums are trying to change. The Palo Alto Jr Museum and Zoo is redesigning their place to be more inclusive. I was so thankful to be invited to get a sneak preview of what they are working on. One of the activities are these backpacks that are for visitors who have specific sensory needs.

I was so touched to hear stories of visitors who felt so welcomed to the zoo.

Inclusion matters and everyone benefits from it.
