Mental Health Awareness 2023

Let’s get cozy and talk about mental health! May is Mental Health Awareness month. Even though the month is ending, caring for your mental health is a 24/7 thing. It can’t be contained into just one month. You need to care for your mental health just like you care for your physical health. I have... Continue Reading →

Practicing Gratitude

A couple of days ago, in the United States, was Thanksgiving. It’s a holiday that most people spend by reflecting on what they are most thankful for. Right now I am most thankful for my health. This past year was a struggle for me, especially my mental health. I spend most of last year focusing... Continue Reading →

Death Anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe

“Lord help my poor soul” (alleged last words of Edgar Allan Poe). Yesterday (10/7) marked the 173 year anniversary of Poe’s death. He has shaped my life in many ways. It’s because of him I fell in love with the study of literature and focused on it in college. May his writings continue to live... Continue Reading →

Inclusion

Museums have an inclusion problem, meaning, many don’t feel welcome in museums. It’s tough to get into the museum field to begin with, lack of representation in the field and exhibits, and lack of accessibility. But many museums are trying to change. The Palo Alto Jr Museum and Zoo is redesigning their place to be... Continue Reading →

Mug

Do you buy mugs as travel and/or museum souvenirs? Recently I started to collect jewelry on my travels so I can wear it and be reminded of my adventure. I do love my coffee and all the mugs I have To add to your collection why not get more mugs from your local museum for... Continue Reading →

Museum Kit

The main thing I make sure to have with me while exploring a museum is comfortable shoes (and my glasses)! Shoes support me so I can spend as long as I want soaking up the goodness of the museum.

Community

Museums can be such a powerful force in their local communities and in creating community. I was moved by this display in the Oakland Museum of California exhibit Queer. California. Visitors were encouraged to share friends, resources, organizations etc that helped them in their journey. Such a moving display of community and a reminder that... Continue Reading →

Who Am I

Who am I? What a loaded question and one I am still trying to figure out. But in terms of museums.... -I believe in the power of museums to change lives -I believe that museums can be anything and any where -I wish to have a career working in museums but right now that is... Continue Reading →

My Museum

My Museum. All museums are my museums. I don’t like the idea of museums competing with one another. Each one is needed. Museums should work together.

World Mental Health Day

I struggle with mental health. I’ve learned the hard way the connection between mental and physical health. Invest in your mental health because you’re worth it. I remind myself of this every day. And we really need to end the stigma around talking about mental health. Stigma causes people to suffer and for others to... Continue Reading →

Thanks PG&E

Due to the PG&E shut off, I have to bring my arthritis medicine to work with me. This medicine needs to be refrigerated 24/7 and if it is not then it expires and is SO expensive to replace. Thinking of others who need electricity for their medicine and health needs ❤️
