Think About Your Thoughts

mh stigma

Each person can start ending stigma against mental illness by first evaluating how they themselves  perceive mental health, mental illness and people who suffer with mental illness.

What does mental health mean to me?

Do I prioritize mental health?

How do I view others who are open about their mental health?

How do I view others who struggle with a mental illness?

What are my views on mental illness?

Am I educated about mental illness and mental health?

How would I react if someone opened up to me and shared that they had a mental illness?

We first need to evaluate ourselves in order to then help others, and eventually, change the world. If a person does not evaluate their own motives and beliefs then they can actually help to keep stigma going.

We need to end stigma in ourselves first.
