Great first day of AFP ICON 2025 with the AFP Silicon Valley chapter! Always enjoy coming to ICON to be in community with nonprofit fundraisers. It’s always a great reminder that you are not alone in your experience and passion.
My main take always from Day 1:
- Having structure is critical for your volunteer program as well as board engagement. Having structure allows for growth and true partnerships. This makes me feel seen- I will no longer feel crazy for wanting structure for my organization’s volunteer program.
- Tell the truth well. Even if the truth is hard, you need to share. Vulnerability is important in any relationships, especially with donors.
-Community is important. Community is important for professional development. They can serve, not only as support, but of examples of how to reach your goals.
